About Us
diyFIRE is a guided, Canada‑first learning platform that helps everyday people build a simple, confident path to financial independence — one clear step at a time.
Help Canadians build financial literacy and make better money decisions and create the most approachable, no‑hype, Canada‑specific FIRE journey for people who want clarity, not complexity.
The FIRE movement (Financial Independence, Retire Early) is a personal‑finance philosophy focused on aggressively saving and investing
At its core, FIRE is about aligning spending with values, building a high savings rate, and reaching a point where work becomes optional.
I’m a builder at heart and software engineer by trade, working towards financial independence so I can spend more time on meaningful work. I built because I’ve seen how confusing investing and account choices can be in Canada — especially for beginners.
Do I actually want to “retire early”? Not really. I like working with my hands. I need to tinker, build, fix, and learn — or I feel aimless.
For me, FIRE isn’t about stopping. It’s about choosing. Once I’m financially comfortable, I want the freedom to travel, try new hobbies, and think less about money.
Financial literacy in Canada is still low — especially around investing basics, account strategy, and how TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, and non‑registered accounts actually work together. I built this to share what I learned along the way so others can start taking consistent, disciplined steps.
diyFIRE is my attempt to make that easier.
A practical, clear, do‑it‑yourself way to see where you stand — and learn what it would take to get comfortable.
